How it works
- Activate Katara by paying at most 4 due to Training Grounds, causing you to draw a card.
- Nadir Kraken triggers, causing you to pay 1 to put a +1/+1 counter on it and create two creature tokens.
- Activate Katara by paying at most 2 and tapping the creature tokens.
- Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing the creature tokens, adding CCCC.
- Resolve the Katara ability, causing you to draw a card.
- Repeat from step 2.
This loop turns Katara, Bending Prodigy into a self-sustaining engine by taking advantage of her unique waterbend ability, which is significantly discounted by Training Grounds so that tapping your generated resources can help pay the cost. As you draw cards, Nadir Kraken triggers to grow itself and spawn tokens, whose numbers are immediately doubled thanks to Parallel Lives. Those fresh tokens can then be fed directly into Ashnod's Altar to generate the colorless mana needed to keep the cycle going, ultimately fueling an endless cascade of card draw, sacrifice, and token generation.
