How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Fiend Hunter, adding one mana of any color.
2. When Fiend Hunter dies, its second ability triggers, returning Hero of the Dunes to the battlefield from exile.
3. When Hero of the Dunes enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Fiend Hunter from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4. When Fiend Hunter enters the battlefield, its first ability triggers, exiling Hero of the Dunes.
5. Repeat.

This elegant loop revolves around an infinite recursion between the graveyard and the battlefield, fueled by the sacrifice outlet provided by Phyrexian Altar. When you sacrifice Fiend Hunter to the Altar, its departure triggers the return of Hero of the Dunes, whose own entry ability immediately brings Fiend Hunter back from the graveyard. This newly returned Fiend Hunter then exiles Hero of the Dunes, setting up the exact initial state so you can repeat the process indefinitely. Meanwhile, Hero of the Dunes's static ability provides a nice little passive boost to your small creatures along the way, turning this mechanical cycle into an endless font of colored mana and triggers.
