How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Accomplished Automaton.
2. When Accomplished Automaton dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Accomplished Automaton enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This brilliant loop centers around Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the reverse face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—whose static ability grants persist to your other nontoken creatures, allowing Accomplished Automaton to return from the graveyard whenever it dies. Because Accomplished Automaton also features the fabricate ability, it naturally counters its own persist drawback by entering with a +1/+1 counter that immediately neutralizes the incoming -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. Meanwhile, Thermopod serves as the engine's maw, providing both a convenient sacrifice outlet and turning every iteration of this perpetual cycle into a steady stream of red mana.
