How it works

  1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Guan Yu.
  2. Guan Yu and Verdant Succession trigger.
  3. Resolve the Guan Yu trigger, shuffling it into your library.
  4. Resolve the Verdant Succession trigger, searching your library for Guan Yu, putting it onto the battlefield and shuffling your library.
  5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability from step 1, causing target player to mill cards equal to Guan Yu's power.
  6. Repeat.
