How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Edgewall Pack, adding CC.
2. When Edgewall Pack dies, Nim Deathmantle triggers, causing you to pay 4 to return Edgewall Pack from your graveyard to the battlefield, and attach Nim Deathmantle to it.
3. When Edgewall Pack enters the battlefield, it triggers, creating a 1/1 Rat creature token.
4. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Rat, adding CC.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the continuous recycling of Edgewall Pack to fuel its own resurrection costs through Ashnod's Altar. Each time the Pack is sacrificed, it generates two generic mana and triggers Nim Deathmantle, which kindly demands just four mana to return the creature to the battlefield equipped and ready to go. Because Edgewall Pack brings along a 1/1 black Rat token on arrival, you easily harvest that extra token at the Altar to make up the rest of the mana required for Nim Deathmantle's fee.
