How it works

  1. Cast Retraction Helix by paying U mana, targeting a Bird, Rat, Otter and/or Frog you control that does not have summoning sickness.
  2. Valley Floodcaller triggers, giving Birds, Otters, Frogs and Rats you control +1/+1 until end of turn and untapping them.
  3. Resolve Retraction Helix.
  4. Cast Grim Monolith by paying its mana cost.
  5. Valley Floodcaller triggers, giving Birds, Otters, Frogs and Rats you control +1/+1 until end of turn and untapping them.
  6. Activate Grim Monolith by tapping it, adding CCC.
  7. Activate the creature targeted by Retraction Helix by tapping it, returning Grim Monolith from the battlefield to your hand.
  8. Repeat from step 4.

This clever loop transforms a humble creature into a mechanical bounce-engine by using Retraction Helix to grant it the ability to scoop up permanents for a mere tap. To keep the engine running, Grim Monolith provides the raw colorless mana needed to recast itself repeatedly, which in turn triggers Valley Floodcaller. Thanks to Valley Floodcaller's static flash-granting ability and its triggered untaps, every recast of Grim Monolith refreshes your creatures instantly, letting you loop the entire sequence for infinite mana, an infinite storm count, and infinitely massive attackers.
