How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Eternal Scourge, adding CC.
2. When Eternal Scourge dies, Sifter of Skulls and Mimic Vat trigger.
3. Resolve the Sifter of Skulls trigger, creating a 1/1 Eldrazi Scion creature token.
4. Resolve the Mimic Vat trigger, exiling Eternal Scourge from your graveyard.
5. Activate the Eldrazi Scion by sacrificing it, adding C.
6. Cast Eternal Scourge from exile by paying 3.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the perpetual motion of Eternal Scourge into an endless engine of sacrifice and creation. By feeding Eternal Scourge to Ashnod's Altar, you generate the exact mana needed to recast it from exile, while Sifter of Skulls steps in upon the creature's death to provide a helpful Eldrazi Scion token and fuel your mana reserves further. Meanwhile, Mimic Vat dutifully keeps the loop primed by holding Eternal Scourge in exile—though you won't even need its activation here, since the Scourge's own native ability allows you to cast it right back out into the fray.
