How it works

1. Cast Eternal Scourge from exile by paying 3.
2. Appa's second ability triggers, creating a 1/1 Ally creature token.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing Eternal Scourge and the Ally, adding CCCC.
4. Eternal Scourge is exiled instead of being put into your graveyard due to Hades.
5. Repeat.

This engine turns a loop of casting and sacrifice into infinite resources, anchored by Hades, Sorcerer of Eld (the transformed side of Emet-Selch, Unsundered) whose static replacement effect ensures that anything put into your graveyard is exiled instead, allowing Eternal Scourge to be repeatedly recast from exile. By utilizing Appa, Steadfast Guardian's ability to reward you for casting from exile, every iteration generates a 1/1 white Ally creature token to feed alongside the Scourge into Ashnod's Altar. The mana generated by the Altar more than covers the casting cost of the Scourge, fueling an endless cycle that produces infinite colorless mana, sacrifice triggers, and tokens.
