How it works

1. Cast Feign Death by paying , targeting Returned Pastcaller.
2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Returned Pastcaller, adding .
3. When Returned Pastcaller dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4. When Returned Pastcaller enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Feign Death from your graveyard to your hand.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop creates an engine by cycling a single spell and creature through the graveyard and back again. When you sacrifice Returned Pastcaller to Phyrexian Altar, its death is immediately intercepted by the lingering effect of Feign Death, bringing it right back to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter. That entrance triggers Returned Pastcaller's ability to pull Feign Death right back out of your graveyard and into your hand, while the Altar provides the black mana needed to cast it all over again.
