How it works

1. Cast Clone Legion by paying 7, causing you to create a token copy of Hidetsugu and Kairi and Returned Pastcaller.
2. Put the token Hidetsugu and Kairi into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
3. The Hidetsugu and Kairi token's first and second abilities trigger, as well as Returned Pastcaller.
4. Resolve the Returned Pastcaller trigger, returning Clone Legion from your graveyard to your hand.
5. Resolve the first Hidetsugu and Kairi trigger, causing you to draw three cards and then put Clone Legion and another card on top of your library, ensuring Clone Legion is on top.
6. Resolve the second Hidetsugu and Kairi trigger, exiling Clone Legion from the top of your library, then causing an opponent to lose 9 life and allowing you to cast Clone Legion from exile without paying its mana cost.
7. Resolve Clone Legion, causing you to create a token copy of Hidetsugu and Kairi and Returned Pastcaller.
8. Repeat from step 2.

This elegant loop begins by casting Clone Legion to flood the battlefield with token copies of both Hidetsugu and Kairi and Returned Pastcaller, leveraging the legend rule to immediately send one copy of Hidetsugu and Kairi to your graveyard. As that legendary token perishes, its death trigger deals heavy damage by exiling Clone Legion from the top of your library and casting it for free, while Returned Pastcaller retrieves that very same Clone Legion from your graveyard back to your hand. Meanwhile, the surviving Hidetsugu and Kairi token enters the battlefield to draw you deep into your deck and effortlessly stack Clone Legion right back on top, ready to repeat the entire devastating cycle.
