How it works

  1. Cast Apex of Power by paying at most 4R manaR manaR mana.
  2. If you have fewer than ten experience counters, Mizzix of the Izmagnus triggers, causing you to get an experience counter.
  3. Resolve Apex of Power, exiling the top seven cards of your library with the ability to cast them until end of turn, and adding either ten U mana or ten R mana.
  4. Cast Mystic Retrieval by paying U mana, returning Apex of Power from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Cast Mystic Retrieval from your graveyard for its flashback cost by paying R mana, returning Runic Repetition from your graveyard to your hand and exiling Mystic Retrieval.
  6. Cast Runic Repetition by paying U mana, returning Mystic Retrieval from exile to your hand.
  7. Repeat.

This loop is an engine fueled by experience counters and recursion. Mizzix of the Izmagnus reduces the cost of your spells as she accumulates counters from each instant or sorcery you cast, eventually making your spells extraordinarily cheap. You begin by casting Apex of Power to generate a massive influx of mana while seeding your graveyard. From there, you cast Mystic Retrieval to pull Apex of Power back to your hand, then flashback that same Mystic Retrieval to retrieve Runic Repetition from your graveyard. Finally, Runic Repetition rescues the exiled Mystic Retrieval, allowing you to cycle the spells endlessly while profiting mana and storm count.
