How it works

  1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the persist creature.
  2. When the persist creature dies, its persist ability and the ability granted to it by Doom Weaver each trigger.
  3. Resolve the second trigger, causing you to draw a card.
  4. Resolve the persist trigger, returning the persist creature from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  5. When the persist creature enters the battlefield, Olivia and Doom Weaver's soulbond ability trigger.
  6. Resolve the Olivia trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on the persist creature and causing you to discard a card.
  7. Resolve the Doom Weaver trigger, repairing it and the persist creature.
  8. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
  9. Repeat.
