Prevent all damage that would be dealt to youLock

How it works

  1. Play Glacial Chasm either from your hand or from your graveyard.
  2. When Glacial Chasm enters the battlefield, its second ability triggers, causing you to sacrifice another land you control.
  3. Play any land from your graveyard.
  4. At the beginning of your next upkeep, Glacial Chasm's cumulative upkeep ability triggers, allowing you to choose not to pay the cost and sacrifice it instead.
  5. Repeat.

This clever defense lock establishes absolute immunity to damage by weaponizing Glacial Chasm's self-sacrificing nature against itself. While Glacial Chasm completely prevents all damage dealt to you, its cumulative upkeep normally spells doom, forcing you to choose between paying escalating life costs or letting it go. Azusa, Lost but Seeking steps in to break this bottleneck by allowing you to play multiple lands per turn, turning the graveyard into an active resource rather than a final resting place. Finally, Perennial Behemoth fuels the loop by letting you repeatedly play that same Glacial Chasm right back out of your graveyard—sacrificing a fodder land to its enter-the-battlefield trigger each time—so you can safely reset its age counters and dodge its upkeep tax indefinitely.
