How it works

1. Activate Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
2. Cast Rise and Shine by paying 1, making Basalt Monolith a 0/0 artifact creature and putting four +1/+1 counters on it.
3. Activate Basalt Monolith's last ability by paying 2, untapping it.
4. Activate Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
5. Repeat from step 3.

By casting Rise and Shine, you transform your Basalt Monolith from a simple mana rock into an artifact creature, allowing it to benefit from Biomancer's Familiar. Normally, untapping the Monolith costs three mana—leaving you with no profit from its three-mana tap ability—but the Familiar's passive cost-reduction discount drops that untap cost down to just two mana. This creates a closed loop where tapping the Monolith for three colorless mana and spending two to untap it leaves you with an infinite surplus of colorless mana.
