How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Golgari Thug, adding CC.
2. When Golgari Thug dies, it and Liliana trigger.
3. Resolve the Golgari Thug trigger, putting it on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Liliana trigger, causing you to draw Golgari Thug from the top of your library.
5. Cast Golgari Thug by paying 0 due to Aluren.
6. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns Aluren into a zero-cost engine by letting you cast Golgari Thug for free whenever it leaves the battlefield. By sacrificing the Thug to Ashnod's Altar, you generate a pair of colorless mana while triggering both the Thug's own ability and Liliana, Dreadhorde General's passive card-drawing payoff. The Thug replaces its own graveyard placement by stacking itself on top of your library, allowing Liliana's draw trigger to pull it right back to your hand ready to be re-cast.
