How it works
- Cast Moritte of the Frost by paying 2 plus commander tax (if applicable).
- Choose to have Moritte of the Frost enter the battlefield as a copy of Omarthis with two +1/+1 counters on it.
- Omarthis's first triggered ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on itself.
- Moritte of the Frost triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on itself.
- Repeat from step 3 any number of times.
- End the loop by declining to put a +1/+1 counter on one of your creatures.
- Warning: Omarthis's last ability can increase the risk of losing by drawing from an empty library if you place enough counters on them.
This clever loop gets its engine running thanks to Mirror Gallery neutralizing the legend rule, allowing you to copy your own commanders without consequence. When you cast Moritte of the Frost as a clone of Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate, its replacement effect gives it two extra +1/+1 counters to start, which immediately triggers Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate to place a counter on Moritte of the Frost. Because Moritte of the Frost is itself a copy of Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate, that new counter triggers its own copy ability back and forth infinitely, stacking up as many +1/+1 counters as you desire. Just be careful not to let Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate actually die after this trick, or the sheer number of counters will manifest your entire library into an untimely defeat!
