How it works

1. Activate Zedruu by paying , giving control of Vilis to an opponent.
2. During that opponent's draw step, they draw a card.
3. Nekusar triggers, dealing 1 damage to the opponent.
4. Vilis triggers, causing the opponent to draw a card.
5. Repeat from step 3 until the opponent loses the game either due to drawing from an empty library, or from having 0 life.

This clever loop transforms Zedruu the Greathearted from a generous philanthropist into an assassin by handing control of Vilis, Broker of Blood over to your victim. Once Vilis belongs to your opponent, Nekusar, the Mindrazer sets the entire execution in motion by triggering during their draw step to deal 1 damage. That damage causes your opponent to lose life, which immediately awakens Vilis's passive ability to draw cards in response—each of which cycles right back into another point of damage from Nekusar, trapping the unfortunate soul in an inescapable doom of endless card draw and life loss until they perish.
