How it works

1. Activate Basalt Monolith by tapping it, adding CCC.
2. Activate Voltaic Construct by paying 2, untapping Basalt Monolith.
3. Repeat.

This crafty triad transforms an ordinary mana rock into a boundless engine of energy. Because March of the Machines turns all noncreature artifacts—including Voltaic Construct and Basalt Monolith—into artifact creatures whose power and toughness equal their mana value, Basalt Monolith gains the legal classification it needs to be targeted. Tapping Basalt Monolith yields three colorless mana, two of which you feed right back into Voltaic Construct to untap the Monolith, leaving you with a net profit of one colorless mana per cycle. By looping this process endlessly, you generate infinite colorless mana to fuel whatever grand designs you have brewing on the board.
