How it works

1. Activate Mystic Sanctuary and Grim Monolith by tapping them, adding CCC.
2. Cast Ghostly Flicker either from your hand or from the top of your library by paying 2, blinking Mystic Sanctuary and Grim Monolith.
3. When Mystic Sanctuary enters untapped, it triggers, putting Ghostly Flicker from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Repeat.

This fascinating loop relies on the constant re-entry of Mystic Sanctuary and Grim Monolith to repeatedly fund and execute Ghostly Flicker. Because Mystic Sanctuary enters the battlefield untapped and triggers its ability when you control enough Islands, it effortlessly recurs Ghostly Flicker from your graveyard back to the top of your library each cycle. Meanwhile, Grim Monolith provides a surplus of colorless mana on every iteration, easily covering the cost of the spell while leaving blue mana to spare thanks to Mystic Sanctuary's own natural tapping. The Lunar Whale ties the whole strategy together from the command zone or battlefield, letting you play Ghostly Flicker directly from the top of your library once it has attacked, turning this flickering engine into an infinite well of colorless mana and ETB triggers.
