How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing another creature, adding CC.
2. When the creature dies, Blade of the Bloodchief triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Thopter Squadron.
3. Activate Thopter Squadron' first ability by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Thopter artifact creature token.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Thopter Squadron into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing its own ability to manufacture sacrifices for Ashnod's Altar, generating a net profit of colorless mana along the way. While the altar fuels your mana pool by turning those tokens into raw energy, Blade of the Bloodchief steps in to capitalize on the constant carnage, ensuring that every fallen creature immediately replaces the counters spent to create them. Because Blade of the Bloodchief constantly replenishes the exact +1/+1 counters that Thopter Squadron needs to activate its token-making ability, the entire apparatus spins infinitely.
