How it works
Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing another creature.
When the creature dies, Blade of the Bloodchief triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Herd Baloth.
Herd Baloth triggers, creating a 4/4 Beast creature token.
Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to the sacrificed creature's power.
Repeat.
This loop turns a simple sacrifice outlet into a devastating mill engine by exploiting a clever cycle of triggers between your creatures and equipment. When you sacrifice a creature to Altar of Dementia, Blade of the Bloodchief steps in to reward that death by placing a +1/+1 counter on the equipped Herd Baloth. Because Herd Baloth triggers whenever counters are placed upon it, each pumped-up iteration spawns a fresh 4/4 green Beast token to feed right back into the Altar, milling your opponent out in the process.
