How it works

1. Cast Ancestral Statue by paying 4
2. Oltec Matterweaver triggers, creating two 1/1 Gnome artifact creature tokens.
3. When Ancestral Statue enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning itself from the battlefield to your hand.
4. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Gnomes, adding CCCC.
5. Repeat.

This loop relies on the clever synergy between Oltec Matterweaver and Ancestral Statue to repeatedly trigger entry and exit effects at virtually no net cost. Because Doubling Season magnifies Oltec Matterweaver's token production, each casting of Ancestral Statue yields a pair of Gnome tokens instead of just one. You then feed those Gnomes directly into Ashnod's Altar, generating four colorless mana to comfortably recast the Statue, pay for the entire loop, and leave you with an overflowing surplus of sacrifices, enters-the-battlefield triggers, and storm count.
