How it works

1. Activate Scorched Ruins by tapping it, adding CCCC.
2. Cast Ancestral Statue by paying its mana cost.
3. When Ancestral Statue enters as a land due to Ashaya, it and Stone-Seeder Hierophant trigger.
4. Resolve the Ancestral Statue trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
5. Resolve the Stone-Seeder Hierophant trigger, untapping it.
6. Activate Stone-Seeder Hierophant by tapping it, untapping Scorched Ruins.
7. Repeat.

This fascinating loop relies on Ashaya, Soul of the Wild to fundamentally rewrite the rules of the battlefield, turning all your nontoken creatures into Forest lands. Because of this type-changing effect, casting Ancestral Statue makes it enter as a land, which triggers Stone-Seeder Hierophant's landfall ability to untap itself. You can then use Stone-Seeder Hierophant's tap ability to untap Scorched Ruins, generating the massive mana output needed to recast the Statue endlessly. The brilliance of this setup is that Ancestral Statue's own enter-the-battlefield trigger can target itself, creating a self-sustaining loop that repeatedly triggers its own return while fueling the engine.
