How it works

1. Cast Ancestral Statue by paying 4.
2. When Ancestral Statue enters the battlefield, it and Verdant Sun's Avatar trigger.
3. Resolve the Ancestral Statue trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
4. Resolve the Verdant Sun's Avatar triggers, causing you to gain life equal to Ancestral Statue's toughness.
5. Workhorse triggers, putting four +1/+1 counters on itself.
6. Activate Workhorse four times by removing four +1/+1 counters from it, adding CCCC.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the self-bouncing nature of Ancestral Statue into a perpetual motion machine by leveraging the life-gaining presence of Verdant Sun's Avatar. Every time the Statue re-enters the battlefield, the Avatar rewards you with life equal to the Statue's toughness, which immediately triggers Light of Promise to pump your creatures. Meanwhile, Workhorse sits on the board to convert the massive life and creature influx into the colorless mana needed to recast the Statue endlessly.
