How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Strangleroot Geist, adding 1.
2. Strangleroot Geist's undying ability and Blood Artist trigger.
3. Resolve the Strangleroot Geist undying trigger, returning Strangleroot Geist from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Blood Artist trigger, causing a player to lose 1 life and you to gain 1 life.
5. Activate Ghave's first ability by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from Strangleroot Geist, creating a 1/1 Saproling creature token.
6. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns the cycle of life and death into an unstoppable engine, centered around the dynamic recycling of Strangleroot Geist. Because the Geist returns with a +1/+1 counter via undying, Ghave, Guru of Spores can siphon that very counter away to spawn a Saproling token, resetting the Geist to die again.
