How it works

  1. Activate Goblin Bombardment by sacrificing Strangleroot Geist
  2. When Strangleroot Geist dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
  3. Resolve the Goblin Bombardment ability.
  4. Activate Goblin Bombardment by sacrificing Strangleroot Geist
  5. When Strangleroot Geist dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  6. Strangleroot Geist enters and dies as a state-based action due to having 0 toughness. Its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
  7. Resolve the Goblin Bombardment ability from step 4.
  8. Repeat from step 4.

This loop turns your graveyard into an infinite ammunition depot for Goblin Bombardment by exploiting how +1/+1 and -1/+1 counters cancel each other out. While Strangleroot Geist starts out with native undying to bring itself back the first time, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight provides the crucial missing piece: its back face grants your other nontoken creatures persist. Once the Geist cycles between these two triggers and accumulates opposing counters, they annihilate each other through state-based actions, letting the Geist die over and over again to continually reload its own recursion engine.
