How it works
Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Strangleroot Geist
When Strangleroot Geist dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Strangleroot Geist
When Strangleroot Geist dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
Strangleroot Geist enters and dies as a state-based action due to having 0 toughness. Its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
Repeat from step 3.
This clever loop turns Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine of perpetual motion, using Isilu's conferred persist ability alongside Strangleroot Geist's native undying to constantly bounce the Geist back from the graveyard. Each time the Geist cycles through death and resurrection with alternating counters, Thermopod is there to sacrifice it for red mana, fueling the loop infinitely. Because the +1/+1 and -1/+1 counters cancel each other out as state-based actions, the Geist is never permanently locked out of returning, allowing you to flood the board with infinite sacrifice, death, and entry triggers.
