How it works

  1. Activate Death Cultist by sacrificing it.
  2. When Death Cultist dies, Luminous Broodmoth triggers, returning Death Cultist from your graveyard to the battlefield without a flying counter on it due to Solemnity.
  3. Resolve the Death Cultist ability.
  4. Repeat.

This delightfully morbid loop relies on Luminous Broodmoth to perpetually rescue your creatures from the graveyard whenever they perish, provided they lack flying. Since Death Cultist naturally stays grounded, it can be sacrificed to slowly drain your opponent's life while triggering the Broodmoth's resurrection ability over and over. Normally, the Moth would slap a flying counter on the returned creature to prevent it from triggering this safety net a second time, but that is where Solemnity comes in as the ultimate loophole; by shutting down all counter placement, Solemnity ensures Death Cultist returns completely unmarked and ready to be sacrificed indefinitely.
