How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing another nontoken creature that doesn't have flying.
2. When the creature dies, Luminous Broodmoth triggers, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield with a flying counter on it.
3. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing the creature with a flying counter on it.
4. When the creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot abilities from step 1 and 3.
6. Repeat.

This loop turns Umbral Collar Zealot into a relentless sacrifice engine by playing two different resurrection mechanics against each other. When you sacrifice a non-flying creature, Luminous Broodmoth steps in to bring it back with a flying counter, which then strips away its ability to trigger the Broodmoth again. However, if that creature is a nontoken creature with persist—courtesy of Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn)—its next death triggers persist instead, bringing it back with a -1/-1 counter that conveniently resets its counters entirely so Luminous Broodmoth can catch it once more. By alternating between these two layers of recursion, you generate an endless storm of sacrifices and surveils to sculpt your library while burying your opponents in triggers.
