How it works

  1. At the beginning of your combat phase, Ayara triggers, returning Combat Celebrant from your graveyard to the battlefield and giving it haste.
  2. Declare Combat Celebrant as an attacker, choosing to exert it as it attacks.
  3. Combat Celebrant triggers, untapping all other creatures you control and causing you to get an additional combat phase after this one.
  4. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Combat Celebrant, adding CC
  5. Repeat each combat phase.

This elegant loop turns Ashnod's Altar into an engine for infinite combat phases by recycling the same warrior over and over. Each combat step begins with Ayara, Widow of the Realm bringing back Combat Celebrant from the graveyard with haste, allowing it to attack and trigger its exertion ability for an extra combat step. Once those triggers are on the stack, Ashnod's Altar steps in to sacrifice the Celebrant for colorless mana, neatly dodging its inability to untap during your next untap step. Because Ayara resets the cycle at the start of every new combat phase, you can repeat this process indefinitely to generate infinite mana and endless attacks.
