Ghave, Guru of Spores
Tribute to the World Tree
Ashnod's Altar
Infinite death triggersInfinite creature ETBInfinite creature LTBInfinite creature sacrifice triggersInfinite +1/+1 counters on creatures you controlInfinite colorless manaInfinite creature tokens
How it works
Activate Ghave's first ability by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from a creature you control, creating a 1/1 Saproling creature token.
When the Saproling enters the battlefield, Tribute to the World Tree triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on the Saproling.
Activate Ghave's first ability by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from a creature you control.
Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Saproling, adding CC.
Resolve the Ghave ability, creating a 1/1 Saproling creature token.
Repeat from step 2.
Once you have infinite mana, you may forego sacrificing the Saproling tokens, and you may either use the remaining +1/+1 counters for Ghave's first ability and/or sacrifice the Saprolings to Ghave's second ability.
This elegant loop turns Ghave, Guru of Spores into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing Tribute to the World Tree to continuously pump up incoming tokens so they can fuel further counter removal. Ashnod's Altar acts as the financial backbone of the operation, converting your sacrificed creatures into the colorless mana needed to repeatedly pay Ghave's activation cost while generating a massive surplus. Because Tribute to the World Tree ensures every newly created 1/1 Saproling immediately receives two +1/+1 counters upon entering the battlefield, you have an endless supply of fuel to distribute counters, sacrifice creatures, and overwhelm the board.
