How it works
- Activate Mimic Vat by paying 3, creating two token copies of Deceiver Exarch with haste.
- The Deceiver Exarch tokens enter the battlefield, untapping Mimic Vat and any other permanent you control.
- Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing both Deceiver Exarch tokens, adding CCCC.
- Repeat.
This engine relies on the interplay between Mimic Vat and Doubling Season to multiply our threats the moment we pay to make a copy. With Doubling Season doubling the tokens created, a single activation of Mimic Vat instead yields a pair of Deceiver Exarch tokens. Their entry triggers untap Mimic Vat right back up, allowing us to immediately cash in their bodies to Ashnod's Altar for more than enough colorless mana to fund the next loop and generate a massive surplus.
