How it works

1. Activate Survey Mechan by sacrificing it.
2. When Survey Mechan dies, Mortuary triggers, putting Survey Mechan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Tormod triggers, creating two creature tokens.
4. Resolve the Survey Mechan ability, dealing 3 damage to any target and causing you to draw three cards and gain 3 life.
5. Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing the two creature tokens, adding CCCC.
6. Cast Survey Mechan by paying 4.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Survey Mechan into a self-sustaining engine by abusing its low casting cost and a clever graveyard-recycling loop. When you sacrifice Survey Mechan to its own hefty activation cost, Mortuary instantly catches it on the way to the graveyard, placing it right back on top of your library so you can redraw it with the ability's own effect. Meanwhile, Tormod, the Desecrator triggers whenever cards leave your graveyard, flooding the board with Zombie tokens that are immediately doubled into a swarm of extra bodies thanks to Chatterfang, Squirrel General's replacement effect. Finally, feeding those generated tokens to Ashnod's Altar provides more than enough colorless mana to recast Survey Mechan and repeat the entire sequence for endless damage, card draw, and life.
