How it works

1. Activate Survey Mechan by sacrificing it.
2. When Survey Mechan dies, Mortuary triggers, putting Survey Mechan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Tormod triggers, creating two creature tokens.
4. Resolve the Survey Mechan ability, dealing 3 damage to any target and causing you to draw three cards and gain 3 life.
5. Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing the two creature tokens, adding CCCC.
6. Cast Survey Mechan by paying 4.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop lets you turn an automaton into a devastating engine by turning its sacrifice into a self-sustaining cycle. When you sacrifice Survey Mechan to its own activation cost, Mortuary immediately catches it on its way to the graveyard, placing it right back on top of your library so you can recast it for a reduced cost of four mana. Meanwhile, Tormod, the Desecrator watches cards leave your graveyard and spawns a Zombie token, an output that Elspeth, Storm Slayer doubles into a pair of tokens ready to be fed into Ashnod's Altar. The mana generated by feeding those doubled tokens to the altar completely funds recasting Survey Mechan, letting you repeat the process to draw your deck, gain game-ending life, and incinerate any target with infinite damage.
