How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Zabaz, adding CC.
2. When Zabaz dies, Yomiji triggers, returning Zabaz from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Cast Zabaz by paying 1.
4. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on turning a tiny insect into a self-sustaining mana engine, starting when you sacrifice Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp to Ashnod's Altar for a pair of colorless mana. Because Zabaz is legendary, the presence of Yomiji, Who Bars the Way triggers instantly upon death, returning the artifact creature right back to your hand instead of leaving it in the graveyard. You can then simply replay Zabaz using just a fraction of the mana generated by the altar, netting endless colorless mana along with an infinite stream of enters-the-battlefield, leaves-the-battlefield, and death triggers. While Zabaz's modular and replacement abilities aren't even needed to keep the engine running, they sit in reserve to potentially pile up massive counters elsewhere if you ever choose to let them resolve.
