How it works

1. Cast Sprout Swarm with buyback by paying at most 4, creating two creature tokens and returning Sprout Swarm from the battlefield to your hand.
2. Cast Sprout Swarm with buyback by paying at most 3 and tapping two creature tokens, creating two creature tokens and returning Sprout Swarm from the battlefield to your hand.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing two tapped creature tokens, adding CCCC
4. Repeat from step 2.

This loop turns the modest token-maker Sprout Swarm into a self-sustaining engine by taking full advantage of the mana and token multipliers on the table. When you cast Sprout Swarm, Parallel Lives ensures you get double the tokens for your investment, providing the raw population needed to feed Ashnod's Altar. Those sacrificed creatures readily convert into the colorless mana required to pay for Sprout Swarm's buyback cost, while convoke lets your extra bodies pitch in for the mana generation without tapping out your entire board.
