How it works
- Activate Survey Mechan by sacrificing it.
- When Survey Mechan dies, Mortuary triggers, putting Survey Mechan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
- Skeleton Crew triggers, creating two creature tokens.
- Resolve the Survey Mechan ability, dealing 3 damage to any target and causing you to draw three cards and gain 3 life.
- Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing the two creature tokens, adding CCCC.
- Cast Survey Mechan by paying 4.
- Repeat.
This clever loop starts by sacrificing Survey Mechan to fuel its own massive ability, which also sends it straight to the top of your library thanks to Mortuary's mandatory replacement effect. As Survey Mechan departs the graveyard, Skeleton Crew’s static trigger fires to generate a token, but Parallel Lives doubles that production into two Skeleton Pirate tokens ready to feed Ashnod's Altar for the mana needed to recast your commander. Since Skeleton Crew also acts as a lord by pumping your token team, every iteration leaves you flush with mana and fresh cards while continuously firing off damage and life gain.
