How it works

1. Cast Walking Ballista by paying 0 due to Ugin, causing it to enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
2. Activate Together Forever by paying 1, targeting Walking Ballista.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Walking Ballista, adding CC.
4. When Walking Ballista dies, Together Forever triggers, returning Walking Ballista from your graveyard to your hand.
5. Repeat.

This brilliant loop turns the unassuming Walking Ballista into an engine of endless devastation, fueled entirely by cost reduction and recycling. With Ugin, the Ineffable discounting colorless spells by {2}, you can cast Walking Ballista for zero mana, allowing it to enter the battlefield with a single +1/+1 counter. You then prime Together Forever's activated ability for {1} to ensure the Ballista returns to your hand upon death, letting Ashnod's Altar sacrifice it to generate {C}{C}. Because the mana produced exceeds the total cost to recast and re-protect the automaton, you net infinite colorless mana, infinite sacrifices, and infinite damage.
