How it works
- Activate Gwenna by tapping it, adding 1 that can only be spent to cast creature spells or to activate abilities of creatures.
- Cast Dargo from the command zone by paying .
- Gwenna triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it and untapping itself.
- Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Dargo, adding CC.
- Choose to return Dargo to the command zone from your graveyard.
- Repeat.
This elegant engine relies on Gwenna, Eyes of Gaea to provide the initial mana needed to deploy your commander, Dargo, the Shipwrecker, for just a single red mana. Whenever Dargo is cast, Gwenna's triggered ability rewards your large creature spell by untapping herself and growing with a +1/+1 counter. You then feed Dargo directly into Ashnod's Altar to harvest colorless mana and send him swiftly back to the command zone, ready to be recast and keep the loop spinning indefinitely.
