How it works

  1. Cast Tatterkite from your graveyard by paying at most 2 due to Rakdos. It won't enter with a finality counter on it due to its static ability.
  2. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Tatterkite.
  3. Repeat.

This clever loop uses Leonardo, Sewer Samurai as a recurring engine, allowing you to cast Tatterkite straight from your graveyard thanks to its low power and toughness. Normally, Leonardo would burden that creature with a finality counter, but Tatterkite's built-in static ability acts as an absolute shield against all counters, letting it slip past the restriction unscathed. Once it hits the battlefield, you feed it to Ashnod's Altar to generate a surplus of colorless mana while sending Tatterkite right back to the graveyard to be recast. To make the mana-positive loop flow, Rakdos, Lord of Riots steps in with a crucial cost reduction, entirely subsidizing the mana needed to replay Tatterkite over and over again.
