How it works

  1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Bookwurm, adding CC.
  2. When Bookwurm dies, Pitiless Plunderer and Verdant Succession trigger.
  3. Resolve the Pitiless Plunderer trigger, creating a Treasure token.
  4. Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding G mana.
  5. Activate Bookwurm by paying 2G mana, putting Bookwurm from your graveyard into your library third from the top.
  6. Resolve the Verdant Succession trigger from step 2, searching your library for Bookwurm and putting it onto the battlefield.
  7. Bookwurm enters the battlefield, causing you to gain three life and draw a card.
  8. Repeat.
