How it works

1. Put a +1/+1 counter on Herd Baloth.
2. Herd Baloth triggers, creating a 4/4 Beast creature token.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Beast, adding CC.
4. When the Beast dies, Tarrian's Soulcleaver triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Herd Baloth.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This loop transforms a single counter into an engine of endless growth and resources, fueled by the clever interplay of artifacts and sacrifice. By hosting Tarrian's Soulcleaver, your chosen creature gains both vigilance and a relentless hunger for the dead; every time a permanent hits the graveyard, it grows stronger. Herd Baloth provides the necessary biological output, automatically answering each of those +1/+1 counters by spawning a fresh 4/4 Beast. Finally, Ashnod's Altar converts those newly minted Beasts into raw colorless mana while sending them straight to the graveyard, which in turn triggers the Soulcleaver to drop another counter right back onto the Baloth—keeping the vicious cycle spinning infinitely.
