How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Golgari Thug, adding CC.
2. When Golgari Thug dies, it and Weatherlight Compleated trigger.
3. Resolve the Golgari Thug trigger, putting it on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Weatherlight Compleated trigger, putting a phyresis counter on it and causing you to draw Golgari Thug from the top of your library.
5. Cast Golgari Thug by paying 0 due to Aluren.
6. Repeat.

This delightfully twisted loop turns a humble graveyard recurrence engine into a relentless engine of devastation by leaning entirely on Aluren to cast low-cost creatures for free. Whenever you sacrifice Golgari Thug to Ashnod's Altar for a pair of colorless mana, its own death trigger puts it right back on top of your library. Simultaneously, Weatherlight Compleated watches the sacrifice happen and triggers to place a phyresis counter on itself while forcing a card draw—which cleanly draws that very same Golgari Thug straight back to your hand.
