How it works
Give Saber Ants indestructible, if needed.
Cause a creature to enter the battlefield under your control.
Halana triggers, causing you to pay 2 to have that creature deal damage equal to its power to Saber Ants.
Saber Ants triggers, causing you to create a 1/1 Insect creature token.
When the Insect enters the battlefield, Halana triggers.
Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Insect, adding CC.
Resolve the Halana trigger, causing you to pay 2 to deal 1 damage to Saber Ants.
Repeat from step 4.
This ingenious loop turns Halana, Kessig Ranger into a damage-dealing engine that exploits Saber Ants' unique ability to breed tokens whenever they take harm. Because Halana's triggered ability requires a mana investment of {2} each time, Ashnod's Altar steps in as the crucial economic engine, turning each newly spawned 1/1 Insect into the exact two colorless mana needed to pay for the next iteration. As you repeat this process of self-inflicted damage and sacrifice, the cycle becomes entirely self-sustaining, generating an endless stream of entries, leaves, and sacrifices.
