How it works
- Cast Technomancer by paying 5.
- When Technomancer enters, it triggers, causing you to mill three cards and return Synth Infiltrator from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Technomancer.
- When Synth Infiltrator enters, it triggers. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Synth Infiltrator.
- Resolve the Synth Infiltrator trigger, causing you to mill three cards and return Synth Infiltrator from your graveyard to the battlefield as a copy of Technomancer.
- Repeat from step 3.
This recursive loop turns Technomancer into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing Ashnod's Altar as both a sacrifice outlet to generate colorless mana and a way to clear the board for the next iteration. As Synth Infiltrator continually enters the battlefield copying Technomancer, its own enters-the-battlefield trigger allows it to pull itself right back out of the graveyard. Because Technomancer's mana value allows it to successfully target Synth Infiltrator, the copied creature can sacrifice itself to the Altar in response to its own trigger, ensuring the cycle never runs out of fuel.
