How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Wretched Throng, adding CC.
2. When Wretched Throng dies, it and Pitiless Plunderer trigger.
3. Holding priority, activate Sundering Archaic by paying 2, putting Wretched Throng from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library.
4. Resolve the Pitiless Plunderer trigger, creating a Treasure token.
5. Resolve the Wretched Throng trigger, putting Wretched Throng from your library into your hand.
6. Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding .
7. Cast Wretched Throng by paying due to Sapphire Medallion.
8. Repeat.

This loop turns a humble common into an engine by cycling a single copy of Wretched Throng endlessly through your graveyard and hand. Ashnod's Altar provides the initial sacrifice outlet for mana, while Pitiless Plunderer converts that death into the Treasure you need to sustain the chain. To make the math work, Sapphire Medallion shaves down the casting cost so that the single mana from the Treasure token is enough to recast the Throng. Finally, Sundering Archaic acts as the recursive glue, spending two generic mana to shuffle the dead Throng right back to the bottom of your library so its own death trigger can effortlessly fish it back out.
