How it works
- Cast Afterlife from the Loam by paying at most 5, returning Zealous Lorecaster and at least two other creatures from graveyards to the battlefield under your control.
- When Zealous Lorecaster enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Afterlife from the Loam from your graveyard to your hand.
- Activate Ashnod's Altar four times by sacrificing three of the creatures returned in step 1, adding six C.
- When the creatures die, Pitiless Plunderer triggers four times, creating three Treasure tokens.
- Activate the three Treasures by tapping and sacrificing them, adding .
- Repeat.
This clever engine uses Afterlife from the Loam to flood the battlefield with creatures from the graveyard, immediately netting you Zealous Lorecaster to recur the spell right back to your hand. Meanwhile, Pitiless Plunderer quietly watches the carnage, turning every sacrificed follower into precious Treasure. Ashnod's Altar provides the mandatory outlet to grind those bodies into the colorless mana you need, while the generated Treasures round out the black mana required to cast the massive spell again.
