How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing another nontoken creature, adding CC.
2. When the creature dies, Nim Deathmantle triggers. Choose not to pay.
3. Activate Xu-Ifit by tapping it, returning a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Xu-Ifit, adding CC.
5. When Xu-Ifit dies, Nim Deathmantle triggers, causing you to pay 4 to return it from your graveyard to the battlefield and attach Nim Deathmantle to it.
6. Repeat.

This intricate loop relies on Ashnod's Altar to convert creatures into the mana needed to keep the machinery turning, while Tannuk, Steadfast Second sits in the background granting your team haste. By sacrificing Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist to the Altar, you trigger Nim Deathmantle's ability, allowing you to spend four of that generated mana to return Xu-Ifit straight back to the battlefield with the Deathmantle attached. Once it is back, you can use Xu-Ifit's tap ability to recycle other fallen creatures from your graveyard, ensuring a relentless cycle of sacrifices and returns.
