How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Metamorphosis Fanatic.
2. When Metamorphosis Fanatic dies, Al Bhed Salvagers triggers, causing you to gain 1 life and target opponent to lose 1 life.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Junji.
4. When Junji dies, it and Al Bhed Salvagers trigger.
5. Resolve the Al Bhed Salvagers trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and target opponent to lose 1 life.
6. Resolve the Junji trigger, returning Metamorphosis Fanatic from your graveyard to the battlefield and causing you to lose 2 life.
7. When Metamorphosis Fanatic enters, it triggers, returning Junji from your graveyard to the battlefield.
8. Repeat.

This loop is a masterclass in recycling sacrifices, perfectly fueled by Ashnod's Altar to continuously convert your creatures into colorless mana. When you feed Junji, the Midnight Sky and Metamorphosis Fanatic to the altar, Junji's death trigger pulls the Fanatic right back out of the graveyard, while the Fanatic's entry trigger immediately returns the favor by bringing Junji back.
