How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Serrated Scorpion.
2. When Serrated Scorpion dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Serrated Scorpion from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Serrated Scorpion trigger, causing you to gain 2 life and dealing 2 damage to each opponent.
5. Cast Serrated Scorpion from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Gwenom.
6. Repeat.

This loop turns an infinite cycle of life and death into a one-way ticket to victory. Ashnod's Altar acts as our engine by generating colorless mana whenever we sacrifice Serrated Scorpion, whose own death triggers reward us with life and drain our opponents. Mortuary catches the scorpion on its way to the graveyard, seamlessly recycling it directly back to the top of our library. Finally, Gwenom, Remorseless breaks the mana restriction wide open, letting us recast the scorpion off the top of our library by paying life instead of mana—a cost easily offset by the scorpion's own life-draining triggers.
